Story
The story behind it
Kumamoto is a main producer of dekopon citrus. Hoshisan's Hinokuni Ponzu is made with its juice.
The sweetness particular to dekopon rides on top, so the acidity is gentle rather than sharp. Even people who find ponzu too sour can eat this comfortably. The citrus aroma stays, and the flavor is straightforward enough to use well beyond hot pot.
Because it comes from a shoyu brewery founded in 1906, the shoyu and dashi underneath it are solid.
How to enjoy
How to use it
Use it with hot pot or yudofu. It also suits grilled meat and gyoza. Whisk it with oil and you have a dressing as is.
